Jack Lunn (Construction) Ltd was appointed to design and construct a single-span distribution unit with office accommodation, as an extension to an existing unit, for one of the largest ethnic and oriental wholesale food distributors in Europe.
Measuring 77 metres long by 32 metres wide and with a height of 10 metres, the steel portal frame with metal cladding and two electrically operated roller shutter doors incorporates a concrete power floated floor.
A 30-bay blocked paved car park with a new access and exit route, electronic security gates and palisade steel fencing was formed.
Given the size of the roof, allowance was made to attenuate a significant quantity of rainwater by installing a large underground attenuation tank.
We constructed the new building to connect on to the existing building without the client being inconvenienced in any way. Throughout the build, the work area was safety sectioned away from the visiting public and we were able to work sensitively in a live environment to ensure the client’s trading remained unaffected.
